I am the Gay brother installation at ArtMill Gallery, Horažďovice, Czech Republic, 2019.
This piece marked an early and important moment in my ongoing practice of exploring queerness, visibility, and the tension between personal truth and external perception. The mirror was spray painted with homophobic slurs in English and Spanish.
At the opening reception, I invited attendees to collectively stone the mirror with me leaving shattered pieces of glass outside of the gallery.
